For the past five articles, we have looked at five verses from Psalm One. Those verses compare a “blessed” person to an “ungodly” person.
The Blessed Person
The “blessed” person is one who does not walk, stand, or sit in the way of sinners. Instead, he delights in God’s Word. He meditates (thinks about) God’s Word day and night. His life is like a strong tree, planted by the rivers of water. Like a healthy tree, he is fruitful in life. He will “stand” and not “fall” in God’s judgment. He will live in Heaven forever with God and with godly people.
The Ungodly Person
The ungodly person walks, stands, and sits in the way of sinners. He does not delight in God’s Word. He does not meditate on God’s Word. The ungodly person is not like a tree planted by the rivers of water. Instead, he is like dry chaff which the wind easily blows away. He does not “stand” in God’s judgment, and cannot live in Heaven.
Conclusion – Psalm One ends with, “For the LORD knoweth the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish.” God knows everything about a blessed person’s life. Also, God knows everything about an ungodly person’s life. That should encourage you if you love and obey God. That should frighten you if you do not obey God. God knows everything about your life.
