Nehemiah is a very good example of having a heart for “the work.” Deaf ministry can be very hard. Many people begin, but when the work gets hard, they disappear. Now we continue with more lessons from Nehemiah.

1. Nehemiah was burdened for the work (Neh 1 & 2).
2. Nehemiah went to the work (Neh 2:9-20).
3. Nehemiah knew this was God’s Will for his Life.
4. Nehemiah encouraged others to help.

Then I told them of the hand of my God which was good upon me; as also the king’s words that he had spoken unto me. And they said, Let us rise up and build. So they strengthened their hands for this good work.” – Neh 2:18

The people learned of God’s work. They helped Nehemiah to do God’s work. When we have God’s work in our hearts, other people will see God’s calling on our lives. God can and will use you to encourage others to do God’s work. Nehemiah’s heart for the work touched others for God’s service. Does your life do that? If you do not have God’s work fully in your heart, you will not be able to influence others. Put God’s work in your heart, do what HE wants, and influence others to serve the Lord, also.

5. Nehemiah continued the work during many troubles.
When we work for God, troubles WILL come. We will have the same troubles as most people, but we will also have troubles because we follow Jesus. Nehemiah had many troubles, but he just continued the work. (See Nehemiah chapters 4-6). What troubles did Nehemiah have?
