The three Hebrew children were hostages in an ungodly Babylon world. The king signed a decree that all must bow and worship his ninety foot god. All looked upon the three because they continued to stand and would not bow to the god. The king commanded them to bow or be cast into a fiery furnace. They stood and said, “…our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace… But if not, be it known unto thee, O king, that we will not serve thy gods.” They were cast into the fiery furnace. The king was astonished and said, “I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire, and they have no hurt; and the form of the fourth is like the Son of God” (Dan. 3:17-18; 25). The king reversed his command and had those who drafted the political law to be cast into the furnace. The king then made a new law that no one could say anything against the Hebrew God. Why? The three Hebrew children let it be known that they would stand and not bend, bow, break, or burn.

Others in the past also testified, be it known: Abel: I will worship Him. Moses: I will follow Him. Joshua: I will serve Him. John the Baptist: I will witness for Him. Peter: I will preach for Him. John: I will love Him. Paul: I will be faithful to Him. Job: “Though he slay me, yet will I trust in him”(Job 13:15). In this generation, as it was in past generations, we must let it be known, “Our God is able to deliver us, but if not, be it known, we will not serve thy gods.”

This present world is watching us as the past world watched them. How will we respond? We will also be tested and tried with the course and culture of this political world (Eph. 2:2). Stand and say, “My God is able to deliver, but if not, be it known, I will not serve thy gods.” The Lord may not still your storm, but He can still you in the storm. When you can’t see the hand of God, look for the heart of God. He is always “there” as He has promised both forward and backwards, “I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee” (Heb.13:5). Backward: “Thee forsake nor, thee leave never will I.” As Long as God is with us we can make it even through the valley of the Shadow of Death (Psa. 23:4). Daniel and the three Hebrew children were a great influence and impact upon their past world. We also need to have a great influence and impact upon our present world. The greatest testimony and influence to this world is a changed and consistent Christian life. There are five Gospels, “Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, and YOU.” As we face the course and culture of this present political world, our God is able to deliver us, but if not, be it known, that as those in the past, we also will not bend, bow, or break, but we will continue to “stand” and “trust” in our God. Be It Known!
