“Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you.”
– Matthew 7:7
I have learned that because I am deaf there are some things I cannot do, but there are some things I can do. Helen Keller wrote, “I am only one: but still I am one. I cannot do everything, but still I can do something; I will not refuse to do the something I can do.” Are you willing to do what you can do? I remember when I was 13 years old and in surgery at Vanderbilt hospital. I was thinking about what I could do with my life. I learned printing at TSD, but I learned I am not a printer. Later, God called me to be a preacher. I thought I am not smart enough so I asked God to help me. God opened the door for me and I went to Bible college. Slowly God began to use me to preach. That was many, many years ago, but I am still preaching today. There are many things I cannot do, but I can preach. I asked, sought, and knocked until God opened the door for me to preach. What are you asking and seeking for in your life? What are the things you can do? The deaf can become leaders, teachers, pastors, or missionaries. The Deaf can be used of God. How do I know? Because I am Deaf and God uses me, God can also use you. Be willing to do what you can. Learn that God wants you more than anything you have!
