Whether we like it or not, each new day brings many new decisions. Daily we are confronted with choices. No choice is still a choice. As the sun rises we must decide to abide or arise. As the sun sets, you realize your day was filled with hundreds of decisions that determined your directions and destinations. Joshua said, “Choose ye this day whom ye will serve.” He then stated his decision, “As for me and my family we will serve the Lord.” Also, “This is the day which the LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it” (Psa. 118:24). Note: Some rejoice – Some remorse! What you decide today determines what you become tomorrow (Prov. 23:7). We are creatures of our choices. You are responsible and accountable for your decisions (Rom. 14:12). Know that your greatest asset and also your greatest liability is your freedom of choice. Wrong Decisions: Adam, Achan, Samson, Demas. Right Decisions: Joseph, Daniel, Luke, Timothy, Paul. Note: Decisions determined directions. Not even God will force you against your will. It has been said, “The Lord does not go where He is not invited.” Note: You cannot help people who do not want help. The devil cannot make you sin, and God will not make you serve.
You must choose to become a servant (Rom. 12:1-2). The Lord says, “Come unto me (Matt. 11:28) and follow me (Matt. 4:19).” But you must make the choice. Warning! You control choices but not consequences. Many have said, “If only I had known then what I know now.” When in doubt – don’t. Make decisions without regrets. My statement, “Decisions Determine Directions – Directions Determine Destinations.”
Good News! It is never too late to have a new beginning. If you do not like your life, then change your life. You cannot change the past, but you can change the future. Good News! God permits U-turns. God is still in the life-changing business. Yesterday is gone, tomorrow is always a day away, so now is the accepted time (2 Cor.6:2). “Decisions Determine Directions – Directions Determine Destinations.”
As Joshua, “Choose ye this day whom ye will serve.” Then respond as Joshua, “As for me and my family we will serve the Lord.” As a reminder, write in your Bible “This day (date) God gave me a new beginning.” God can do for you what you cannot do for yourself. Tomorrow you will face a new day you have never known before. “Decisions Determine Directions – Directions Determine Destinations.”
God may not still your storms, but He can still you in the storm. “And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus” (Phil. 4:7). As you daily arise, say loudly, “This is the day which the Lord hath made we (I) will rejoice and be glad in it.” Then say to the Lord, “I choose this day to serve you. Lord, I am thy servant – Use me!” (Psa. 143:12; 119:25).
