The original story of Humpty Dumpty pre-dates Lewis Carroll’s nursery rhyme character. According to military historians, Humpty Dumpty was the name of a cannon used by the Royalists during the English Civil War. The conflict raged from 1642 to 1649. In June of 1648, Humpty Dumpty was stationed on the walls of Colchester, England. During the battle another cannon successfully blew up the wall that was holding up Humpty Dumpty so Humpty Dumpty took a fall. Humpty Dumpty was so big and heavy that no one could put Humpty Dumpty up again – not even all the king’s horses and all the king’s men. – quora.com.

Poem: “Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall – Humpty Dumpty had a great fall – All the king’s horses and all the king’s men – Couldn’t put Humpty together again.” Well, I would like to try my Humpty Dumpty Bible version. “The first man Adam sat on a wall – The first man Adam had a great fall. All men’s religions and all earth’s good men – Couldn’t put Adam together again.” Good News! Religions and good men could not put Adam together again – But the Lord Jesus Christ restores what broken Adam lost. “Wherefore, as by one man (Adam) sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned … But not as the offence, so also is the free gift. For if through the offence of one (Adam) many be dead, much more the grace of God, and the gift by grace, which is by one man (Jesus), hath abounded unto many. And not as it was by one (Adam) that sinned, so is the gift: for the judgment was by one to condemnation, but the free gift is of many offences unto justification. For if by one man’s (Adam) offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ. Therefore as by the offence (sin) of one (Adam) judgment came upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one (Jesus Christ) the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life. For as by one man’s disobedience (Adam) many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one (Jesus Christ) shall many be made righteous” (Rom. 5:12-19).

Good News! As Humpty Dumpty you have fallen, but you can be put together again! “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new” (2 Cor. 5:17). What Adam lost – Jesus restores. Jesus Christ is the only cure for the curse of Adam. As Humpty Dumpty, you also have fallen and only Jesus can put you together again – If you will let Him. Don’t be a Humpty Dumpty
