Children are taught that certain things are a “No – No!”  When they do a  “No – No,” they get a certain look from their father/mother and immediately stop. Well, the Lord has four “No – Nos, and at times He also guides his children with that “No-No” look (Psa. 32:8).

(3) FORGET NOT: “Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits” (Psa. 103:2). “Beware that thou forget not the LORD thy God… Lest when thou …art full, and hast built goodly houses… when thy herds/flocks multiply … and all that thou hast is multiplied; then thine heart be lifted up, and thou forget the LORD thy God” (Deut. 8:11-14). Can a nation and people forget God? Yes! Notice when Israel was “full,” they “forgot” God and limited the Holy One of Israel (Psa. 78:41). Inconceivable! Israel forgot God but God remembered them (Psa. 78:39). Not just a few forgot but all the nation of Israel forgot God.

At this time Israel was greatly blessed in size and abundance. Their nation had greatly grown in population and abundance. There were numbered to war 603,550 men from 20 years and upward (Num. 1:45-46; Ex. 38:26). Note: If you added the elders, women and children, their population would compare to Chicago (2,722,389 in 2014) – (Infoplease.com). In fullness God guided and provided for the nation of Israel in a wilderness wasteland without food or water. Incomprehensible! When all 12 tribes camped, they needed 750+ square miles. They daily required millions of gallons of water, and many tons of food.  Amazing! God daily guided and provided faithfully for them for 14,400 days (40yrs X 360days). Daily God provided His presence by a cloud for shade and guidance. At night God provided His presence by fire for light, heat, and guidance. God daily faithfully flowed water from a rock. God daily provided morning manna.  In the evenings God sent delicious quail. Also their clothing and shoes did not wear out (Deut 8:4). But in fullness they forgot God. Warning: Abundance can cause Amnesia.

God has also guided and provided for America and as a nation, family and individuals America should say, “Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits” (Psa. 103:2). “Blessed is the nation (and people) whose God is the Lord” (Psa. 33:12). God promises, “If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land” (2 Chron. 7:14).

Warning: Abundance can cause Amnesia. “Beware that thou forget not the LORD thy God… Lest when thou …art full… thou forget the Lord thy God.” Forget Not! (Continued next article)
