For many years my wife, Carlene, led the music and signed with the Deaf teenagers at the Bill Rice Ranch. “He’s Able” was one of her favorite songs. The sign for “able” is the word “can” twice. As she signed, she heard and saw one deaf boy signing and loudly singing with his voice. “He can – can, I know He can – can.” Well, “God Can Can” because He is able. What does able” mean? It means He has unlimited power and resources that never diminish. He has all knowledge and is ever present at all times. He is able with the ability to perform what He promises. God is able to as He pleases, when He pleases, and how He pleases. God is God! “In the beginning God” (Gen. 1:1). Without God there would be no beginnings. By Him all things consist and exist (Col. 1:16-17). God can – can. Other gods can’t – can’t. “They have mouths… they speak noteyes… but they see not: They have ears… they hear notnoses … they smell not: They have hands… they handle notfeet… they walk not: neither speak they …” (Psa.115:4-8). They have gods that cannot respond to them. No Buddhist can sing, “Yes, Buddha loves me.” God can – can, but all other gods can’t – can’t. There is only one almighty God. God is able to save (Heb. 7:25). God is able to perform what He promises (Rom. 4:21). God is able to help in times of need (Heb. 2:18). God is able to keep you from falling (Jude 24). “And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work” (2 Cor. 9:8).

The three Hebrew children said, “Our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace …if not, be it known unto thee, O king, that we will not serve thy gods” (Dan. 3:17). God did not remove them, but remained with them. God may not still your storm, but He is able to still you in the storm. “Daniel, O Daniel, servant of the living God, is thy God …able to deliver thee from the lions?” Daniel replied, “He is able” (Dan. 6:16-22). Daniel and the three Hebrew children as a quartet could sing, “He’s able.” You can sing a solo, “He’s able. He’s able. I know He’s able.” Their gods have mouths… they speak noteyes… they see not … have ears… they hear not:noses… they smell not… have hands… they handle notfeet… they walk not.” Our God speaks in His Word, He has eyes that never close, ears that listens, hands to strengthen you, arms always open, and a heart full of unconditional love. God loves you, you, and even you. They cannot make that statement about their gods. Their gods can’t – can’t, but He’s able and He Can – Can!
