Think about it! How many days lived and how days many left. Some say, “Time flies.” Well what else can it do? Time is never still and it never remains. Note: The Bible emphasizes days, not months, or years. “Give us this day…” (Matt. 6:11). Day is found in 1,540 verses, so let’s number our days: One day is 24 hours; 1,440 minutes; and 86,400 seconds. One year is12 months, 52 weeks, 365 days, 8,760 hours, 525,600 minutes, and 31,536,000 seconds. Let’s number an average life of 70 years (Psa.90:10). An average life 70 years, 25,550 days, 613,200 hours, 36,920,000 minutes, or 2,207,520,000 seconds. It is wise to number or to make each day special.
Each day is a new day you have never seen before. Each day seconds become minutes, hours become weeks, months become years. At any time there could be just a step, or breath between you and death. Inhale, take a deep breath, exhale and praise the Lord because you still have breath (Psa. 150:6). In 2020 many took their last step (Psa. 37:23) and last breath. There is wisdom to number (make each day count) because tomorrow may not come (James 4:13). as the song says, “Tomorrow is always a day away.” What have you done or left undone today?
Abraham died full of years (Gen. 25:8). Don’t just die full of years, but live years full of life. Each day we could either help or hurt someone. Eternal changes can be made in a moment (2 Cor. 5:17). You cannot change the past, but you can change the future. Be wise, count the days and make the days count. Don’t regret wasted unused yesterdays or never to come tomorrows. Don’t regret but rejoice in each day (Psa. 118:24). Realize an inheritance is what you leave to people, a legacy is what you leave in people. “Loving moments make lasting memories.” Live so you will not be ashamed of yesterday or afraid of tomorrow.
One man prayed, “Lord thank you for this new day that you have made. It is a day we have never had before.” A lady said, “Today, is the best day of my life.” A boy asked, “What about the time you were married?” She said, “That was my best day then, but today is now my best day, and tomorrow again will become my best day.” Make today and each day the best day of your life. Make this year the best year of your life. In 2021, let’s number our days!
