What Must I KNOW To Be Saved?

Years ago, many people knew about the Bible. Today, many have questions about God, Jesus, and salvation. Many people do not know what the Bible says. The Philippian Jailer asked, “What must I DO to be saved?” (Acts 16:30). Ask yourself, “What must I KNOW to be saved?”

God – (Hebrews 11:6) God created the world. He has all power and knows everything. He is in all places at the same time. He is a spirit and is not limited by a body or a mind. God is good (Ps. 136:1). God wants us to know Him and His ways, so He gave us the Bible for us to learn His way.

Bible – (2 Timothy 3:16) God used more than 40 men (more than 1,500 years) to write the Bible. The Bible reveals God and His ways. You can trust the Bible (Psalm 19:8). Many people have tried to destroy the Bible, but the Word of God continues. It is still true today and can be trusted. You cannot understand everything in the Bible, but you can study and learn. You can trust the Bible as true and God’s authority for your life.

Devil – (Isaiah 14:12-15) The Devil wanted to be like God, but God cast him out of Heaven. He is a liar and a deceiver. He will be cast into the Lake of Fire (Revelation 20:10). The Devil is called “the tempter” (Matthew 4:3). As he tempted Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden and Jesus in the wilderness, the Devil tempts you.

Sin – (1 John 5:17) Sin is doing wrong. Sin is breaking God’s law. Every person breaks God’s law. No person is perfect the same as God. All people are sinners (Rom. 3:23). You are NOT a sinner because you sin. You sin BECAUSE you are a sinner. Some people are born as natural painters or athletes, but all people are born as sinners. I do not want to be a sinner, but I am a sinner. You are a sinner. Your sin was passed down from Adam to your parents to you. “Wherefore, as by one man (Adam) sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned” (Romans 5:8). All includes you, me and everyone! Sin separates us from God (Isaiah 59:2).

Hell – Everyone must die. Death is when your body stops. But you have an eternal soul. You (your soul) will live forever some place. After you die, you will be judged (Hebrews 9:27). If you die with your sin, you will be “cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death” (Rev. 20:14).

BUT NOW read the good news…

God Loves You – “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life,” (John 3:16). The all-powerful and all-knowing God loves you and me (1 John 4:10). You can love God because He first loved you (1 John 4:19).

Jesus – God sent his Son, Jesus Christ, as the substitute for your sin. Jesus said he “came down from heaven” (John 6:38). He was also called Emmanuel, which means “God with us,” (Matthew 1:23). Jesus has all power, the same as God. Jesus healed blind people and raised dead people to live again. Then Jesus “died for our sins according to the scriptures,” (1 Corinthians 15:3). Jesus died for you – in your place. Jesus accepted your “sins in his body on the tree (cross)” (1 Peter 2:24). He was buried and arose to live “again the third day” (1 Corinthians 15:4). He went up to Heaven and is now at the right side of God (Hebrews 12:2). The good news (Gospel) is that Jesus died, was buried, and arose again – for you!

Summary – Every person has sin. You have sin. Your sin will be punished in Hell forever. But, Jesus died on the cross as your substitute. God punished Jesus and not you! Jesus died for you.

Decide – Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me,” (John 14:6). The only way to God and Heaven is through Jesus Christ. God does not force any person to follow His way. This is your choice. If you do not believe (trust, accept, follow) Jesus, you will “die in your sins,” (John 8:24). This means you will “not see life; but the wrath (anger) of God abideth (stays) on” you. But if you will turn to Christ from your sin (1 Thessalonians 1:9), believe and receive (trust, accept, follow) Jesus, you will have “everlasting life” (John 3:36).

Believe & Receive – It is your choice. Do you want to follow your sin or Jesus? Do you want your way? Do you want to die with your sin? Or, do you want to go the way of Jesus? Do you want to follow Jesus? Do you want Jesus as your Savior? “But as many as (1) received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that (2) believe on his name,” (John 1:12).

Pray This Prayer To God

If you will now believe and receive (accept) Jesus as the substitute for your sin, pray this to God….
“Dear God, I know I am a sinner. I know you punish sin in Hell. I do not want to follow sin. I want to follow Jesus. Now I accept Jesus as the substitute for my sin. I accept Jesus as my Savior. Jesus come into my heart and save me now. Help me to now serve You as a Christian! Amen.”

Please let us know your decision. We will send you information to help you can grow and live for God.
