In my daily devotions I have set aside Thursday as my special Thankful-Day. This has given me a new meaning to thankfulness. I am thankful for every day, but I now look forward to Thursdays as a “special” thankful day. As I researched “Thanks” in the Bible, I was amazed to find 171 verses that “give thanks” unto the Lord or God. OT: 16 times times Scriptures state, “O give thanks unto the LORD.” NT: 36 verses express giving “Thanks.” Example: “In every thing give thanks” (1Thess.5:18). Warning! OT: “Beware that thou forget not the LORD thy God… Lest when thou …art full, and thou forget the LORD thy God” (Deut. 8:11-14). In fullness, they forgot, but God did not forget them (Psa 78:39). Warning! NT: “Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful” (Rom 1:21). Forgetfulness is the first step away from God. Notice unthankful then unholy (2 Tim. 3:2). Warning! OT: Fullness causes Forgetfulness. NT: Abundance causes Amnesia (2 Tim. 3:1). So let’s think and thank the Lord – More!
Can I now encourage you to also have Thankful Thursdays with me? I know some mornings you say, “Good morning, Lord.” Then some mornings you say, “Good Lord! Morning!” Remember, “In every thing give thanks” (1Thess. 5:18). Simply “think” and “thank” God for His many blessings and benefits. “Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits” (Psa. 103:2). Afterwards I encourage you to end “Thankful Thursday” by saying, Alexa or Siri, play “Thank You” by George Beverly Shea. (If you cannot, then sing/say this famous song).
“Thank You, for waking me this morning. Thank You, for giving me today. Thank You, for every new day dawning, I’ll be thanking you. Thank You, for every tree and flower. Thank You, for every sky of blue. Thank You, I should be every hour, Truly thanking You. Thank You, for every note of music. Thank You, for every song I sing. Thank You, for giving me sweet music. Thanks for everything. Thank You, for everything You give me. Thank You, for everything we share. Thank You, for simply being with me. Thanks for being there. Thank You, for cheering me with laughter. Thank You, for every smile You bring. Thank You, for now and ever after. Thanks for everything. Thank You, for waking me this morning. Thank You, for giving me today. Thank You, for every new day dawning, I’ll be thanking you. Thank You, for every new day dawning, I’ll be thanking you.” (Music on Amazon).
Lord, Thank You for this new day we have never had before. We now take a deep breath (Psa. 150:6) and we are glad and we rejoice in it. Well, I will be looking forward to sharing “Thankful Thursdays” with you and the Lord.
