“To Hear”

By Allene Hughes

I see my mother’s smiling face,
her gentle face so mild and meek.
Her slim hands sign with tender grace,
Oh, dear Lord, to hear her speak.

I see my father’s handsome face,
his strong young face so brave, so bold.
As he signs to me his fingers race,
Oh, dear Lord to hear the words he told.

I see my sister’s little face,
her beautiful face with cheeks so red.
She signs to me with halting pace,
Oh, dear Lord, to hear what she said.

But someday I’ll see my Savior’s face,
His Heavenly face I’ll see without fear.
In front of His throne I’ll be in place,
and say, “Yes, Lord, I hear!”
