Trust and Obey

Suggestion… Sing “Trust and Obey” before or after each lesson

When we walk with the Lord in the light of His Word,
What a glory He sheds on our way!
While we do His good will, He abides with us still,
And with all who will trust and obey.

Refrain: Trust and obey, for there’s no other way
To be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey.

Not a shadow can rise, not a cloud in the skies,
But His smile quickly drives it away;
Not a doubt or a fear, not a sigh or a tear,
Can abide while we trust and obey.

Not a burden we bear, not a sorrow we share,
But our toil He doth richly repay;
Not a grief or a loss, not a frown or a cross,
But is blessed if we trust and obey.

But we never can prove the delights of His love
Until all on the altar we lay;
For the favor He shows, for the joy He bestows,
Are for them who will trust and obey.

Then in fellowship sweet we will sit at His feet,
Or we’ll walk by His side in the way;
What He says we will do,
where He sends we will go;
Never fear, only trust and obey.

Trust and Obey

The success of your Christian life is simply learning to “Trust and obey.” You learn to trust the Lord and then simply obey Him. There should be a time in your life when you believe God and trust His Word. No matter what happens you trust God. You need to become daily conscious of His presence. Be conscious of times He inspires your different paths and ways in life. Be conscious and know when He is “there” and also be aware when He is “not there.” “After they were come to Mysia, they assayed to go into Bithynia: but the Spirit suffered them not” (Acts 16:7). God not only directs your steps, but He directs your stops. There are times God says go, and times He says no. There is much wisdom in knowing His directions.

As you go, you will know the will of God. When you stop going, you will stop knowing. Decisions determine your directions – Directions determine your destinations. As you trust and obey Him,
you will always be in the right direction. When you simply trust and obey Him, you will accomplish things far beyond and above your own abilities and expectations. It seems that God loves to be glorified with
ordinary people doing extraordinary things. Abraham Lincoln said, “God must have loved the common man, because He made so many of us. God is glorified when His people simply trust and obey Him.
The greatest testimony is a changed and committed Christian who trusts and obeys God.
