What have you done? The written word has influenced and inspired thousands, millions and even nations. Some writers have been able to control and influence the thinking of millions throughout history. A few men penned the Constitution of the United States and it has guided America for over two hundred years. The theories, thoughts, and writings of Darwin and Einstein have affected the power and thinking of the world. Writings of Poe, Browning, Twain, Helen Rice, and Shakespeare have inspired multitudes for many generations. Words in the music of John Newton, Fanny Crosby, and George B. Shea continue to inspire countless millions. Cults and world religions have used their written words to create false beliefs, heresies, and sway millions. Spurgeon, Chambers, John R. Rice, McGee, DeHaan, Matthew Henry, and Ironside are now in Heaven, but their written words continue to preach.

Forty men inspired by the Holy Spirit, wrote one powerful book that has changed and is changing lives for over two thousand years. The written word has proven to be more powerful than nations, governments, kings and queens. The Apostle John knew the power of the pen, “These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God” (1 John 5:13). The pen is definitely mightier than the sword, but unwritten words are never read!

What have you left undone? Unsown seeds reap no harvest. Unspoken words give no comfort. Unwritten songs do not bless. Unsent cards do not encourage. Unwritten poems inspire no one. Unpreached messages remain unheard. Ungiven love is unexpressed. Unfinished tasks are never rewarded. Ungiven tracts are just paper. Unwritten words are never read. You are not only accountable for things you have done, but also for things left undone. “Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye pay tithe…and have omitted the weightier matters of the law, judgment, mercy, and faith: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone” (Matthew 23:23). You cannot change the past, but you can change the future. What have you done? What have you left undone? Unwritten words are never read! Selah!
