Have you ever wondered about the number of deaf people in this world? So have I. Estimates vary greatly. I saw one estimate of 500 million deaf in the world. But that can’t be right because that would mean that 1 out of every 12 people in the world would be deaf. Also the term “deaf” can be applied to hearing or elderly people who have become deaf but do not use sign language. The total world population just recently exceeded 8 billion people. Wow! Did you know that although most of them are hearing people, still at least half of the world has never heard or seen a clear presentation of the Gospel? Some have never even heard the name of Jesus. Can you and I imagine that? But what about the Deaf world? As we say, “Go into all the world” includes the deaf people, but who will go?
What about the Deaf world? Deaf people have their own culture, but not their own country. Deaf people are in every country, and need to be reached in their language which will differ from the hearing world. All I know is that everywhere I go in this world, deaf people are there – TC.
What about the Deaf world? Naturally some countries have more deaf and some may have less deaf. How many of these deaf people have had a clear presentation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ? The truth is that a very small percentage of deaf people have ever truly known of Christ. Most deaf in this world are still unsaved and unreached. If you have heard of Christ, you should feel honored. If you are deaf or know sign language, you should go sign to them. Deaf people, as you know, are also lost and need to be saved. But who will go and tell them? Many deaf live and die in heathen darkness, never having known of the love of God. They live in isolation and silence. Often they have no clear communication even with their family members. They are lonely and rarely feel loved by anyone. But Christ also loves them. He wants to take them to Heaven where they will hear forever! They will hear His precious voice. I often say, “Along the path of life, SWM and SWMI serve and minister to everyone, but we beat a path to the deaf.””Will you join with us to go, pray, or support, or send those who can go and sign to the lost and lonely deaf of this world.
