What’s Up? Sympathy to the family of Pearl Gould (91), Carthage, MO, who passed away on February 27, 2023. Don, her dear husband of 74 years, preceded her in death on January 3, 2023. They were wonderful servants of the Lord and the Deaf. SWM is thankful for their special friendship, and support. They will be missed by many. (BTW: Pearl always wore pearls).

What’s Up? Lovely Deaf friend, Faye Walters (97 years old), enjoys reading the “Silent Word” newspaper. She attended Philadelphia School for the Deaf and now lives in Greenville, South Carolina with her daughter and son-in-law, Dave & Gloria Eoute..

What’s Up? SWM’s missionary to the Deaf of Romania, Nicole Condra, has returned to her mission field. She was “at home” for a few months to visit family, take care of necessary business, and buy both ministry and personal supplies needed for the field. Everyone at SWM greatly enjoyed her visit and hearing an update of her work. Her family, after almost three years, were blessed to see her again.

What’s Up? Young friends from the Chattanooga area, Austin Morgan, Julia Laranjeira, and Garrison Snow, joined in the February Trenton Deaf Fellowship. Although they do not know sign language, they have a heart for ministry and a special interest in the Deaf community.

What’s Up? Friends, Dave & Gloria Eoute, Greenville, SC, recently stopped by to visit SWM. They were co-workers with Ted & Carlene Camp for many years at the Bill Rice Ranch. From there, they have been working with Bob Jones University. Plans are to retire soon from their “jobs” but not from from serving the Lord. During their retirement years they hope to be a part of several ministries, including SWM, to serve in needed areas that match their expertise. Gloria is a CODA and naturally uses ASL fluently. David knows sign language as well, and both have a heart to serve the Deaf wherever the Lord may lead them.

What’s Up? Deaf friends, Fred Fox (Iowa), Jim Redmond (Alabama), and Michi Fitzgerald (Colorado) were recent visitors at Silent Word Ministries. It is always a joy to have friends drop by for a visit

What’s Up? The Lord has provided new floors at SWM to replace the original floors. A volunteer crew (above) helped in moving and removing all that was necessary in the two spaces. The flooring was from Southern Wholesale Carpet (Trenton, GA) and Mark Morcombe & Billy Little (Mark’s Flooring, Trenton, GA) laid the floor. We appreciate all who helped make this project possible. To God be the glory!

What’s Up? SWM will teach a community beginner sign language class April 24-28. The goal is to help the community to be more aware of and to better serve the Deaf.
