What’s Up? Veteran Missionary (30+ years) to the Deaf in the Philippines, Bob Himes, continues to be busy in doing God’s work. In October he was the special speaker for the Deaf Anniversary at LaLoma Baptist Church, in Quezon City (northern part of Manila). It was a great day of preaching and teaching God’s Word with four accepting Christ as Savior. Also, in Deaf Sunday School at Bethany Baptist Church in Makati (southern part of Manila), three more deaf received Christ. Please pray for Bob as he has serious shoulder problems which hinder his communication with the deaf. Surgery is planned in hopes of healing. Words of encouragement would mean a lot to him. What’s Up? Sympathies to the family and the many friends of deaf friend, Richard H Graikowski (83) of Wausau, Wisconsin, who passed away on September 29, 2019. Richard was a faithful Christian and very active in deaf Christian centered activities, as well as athletics at his Alma Mater, Wisconsin School for the Deaf. He loved his church where he attended faithfully and interacted with everyone, from young to old. He never let his deafness interfere with his involvement with hearing people, enlisting the help of the interpreters. He had a smile that endeared him to everyone.

Gene knew sign language and was a wonderful example of a devoted and involved father to both his sons. He was also involved in full-time Christian ministry for over 25 years. He was a loyal friend and supporter of Silent Word Ministries. Gene was a true Christian gentleman. He is greatly missed.
