What’s Up? Sympathy to the family of Deaf friend Roy Milligan (76), Burlington, Iowa, who passed away on May 14, 2020. Roy was a graduate of Iowa School for the Deaf, Council Bluffs and a member of Harmony Bible Church. He was active in his church. He signed songs beautifully and was a very talented artist. He went on mission trips to Honduras and Jamaica and loved sharing his art work with the Deaf children. Ted Camp met Roy many years ago and led him to the Lord. Through the years, they stayed in contact through letter writing. He is missed by many, especially his church.

What’s Up? Congratulations to SWM Pastor Paul & Rachel Strosnider and the people of Ephraim Baptist Church for the Deaf, Florissant, MO. They recently celebrated their 15th church anniversary. Church Planter, Pastor Jonathan Bordean (Jacksonville, IL) was the special speaker. (Jonathan’s mother, Sharon, accompanied her son to the meeting. She was happy to visit this church and, of course, see/hear her son speak.) SWM is thankful for the Strosniders and their faithfulness.

What’s Up? SWM has a new entrance sign. The old sign was crushed by a large tree during the Easter weekend tornado. We are thankful the tree missed the office building. Most of the SWM tornado repairs are completed. Thanks to you who gave to this special need.

What’s Up? Congratulations to Melody Frink Holmquist (Deaf), Columbus, Ohio! On Friday, July 17, 2020, she became Dr. Holmquist (PhD in Biochemistry). For seven years she researched and worked an average 60-hour week at the Ohio State University, one of the toughest colleges in America, to attain this prestigious degree. Her nickname is Pep Si Holmquist because of her favorite soft drink Pepsi. Melody is married to Andrew Holmquist, whose parents are Deaf, and is the daughter of Jeff and Lisa Frink, both Deaf. Congrats, Dr. Melody Holmquist!

What’s Up? Pastor Vince Stover, Bible Pathway Baptist Church, Lexington, KY, is looking for a man or couple to join their staff as an assistant pastor with a focus on the Deaf. Also, he is interested in having a man or couple called to church planting to “intern.” The church is young, established in 2014. Pastor Stover works a job while pastoring. Anyone interested in joining them would need to do the same. This is a great opportunity to work alongside Vince Stover. He grew up on the Bill Rice Ranch and has vast experience with people. Many on the staff of SWM know and highly recommend him.

What’s Up? Congratulations to Ben & Marie Muldoon! They were married on June 6, 2020. SWM’s International Director, David Bennett, performed the ceremony. Ben and Marie are missionaries to the Deaf and will be a part of the SWMI Team, with plans to go to Romania.

What’s Up! A reunion of three old family members at SWM office. Each one is the head of his clan. This is their first time to be together in over 50 years. It was a time of old stories, joy and reunion.
