Who holdeth (puts) our soul in life, and suffereth not our feet to be moved” (Psalm 66:9). I am truly grateful to the Lord Who holds my life in His hands. I know it is He that helps me remain strong even during difficult times. Our family recently planned a vacation in the mountains of Pennsylvania. We were looking forward to a wonderful time together, especially with all thirteen of our grandchildren! In the middle of the week, I began to have pain in my back and stomach. We thought it might be kidney stones. Everyone said, “Mom, you need to go to the hospital.” I finally agreed, and our oldest granddaughter said, “We need to pray.” We sat around the table holding hands, and prayed for the Lord to go before us and help us. After getting a CAT SCAN, we learned that it was a ruptured aneurysm on my aorta. Emergency surgery! Everything changed! People were moving quickly around me. Concern was on my husband, Jim’s face. I was at peace. They gave me pain pills, but I was not experiencing any pain. The second reason was that I was trusting God to take care of me. Jim had just finished teaching a series on some of the names of God. I saw God work in amazing ways! He was my peace (Jehovah Shalom); always with me, and nothing would surprise Him (Jehovah Shammah). He provided a wonderful, skilled surgeon, who did not even live in that state (Jehovah Jireh). I knew there were many people from all over the world who were praying for me (Jehovah Sabaoth). I felt the healing of the Lord in my body daily (Jehovah Rapha). I want to lift Him up as my Banner (Jehovah Nissi). I am thankful to be alive and to share all that God has done for me. We went on vacation, but God had a little detour for me to take. He never left me, and He held my soul in life, and keeps me standing today. “Come and hear, all ye that fear God, and I will declare what He hath done for my soul” (Psalm 66:16). I may not know about tomorrow, but I know Who does!
